About Us

The Postpartum Collective is a peer support community for parents based in the DC area. With weekly meetings, monthly partner's circles and expert led workshops; we aim to create a well woven community of families looking to have a realistic perspective on parenthood, while holding their own truths.

Meet The Team

Katie Baxter (she/her)

Co-Founder

Katie Baxter has been a birth and postpartum doula in the DC area since 2017. And prior to that she was an infant nanny.

Katie is a skilled circle facilitator, with experience in conflict resolution and mediation, who uses tools from her ongoing study of nonviolent communication (NVC), and Restorative Justice to hold collaborative, community guided spaces.

Kris Brewer (she/they)

Co-Founder

Kris has been caring for children since 2009. Through transitioning from childcare to doula work, Kris has found that they enjoy not only the aspect of caring for children, but guiding and coaching parents as as well.

As a Black queer human, they aim to normalize and provide more access to professional parenting support postpartum and beyond in these communities.
